Chaill Na Cleasaí aríst
Chuamar mé agus Niall go Staid Chleasaí aréir. Chonaiceamar an foireann mar is gnách. D'imir Na Cleasái na gCathair na Áingeal ar aghaidh Na Coileánaí na Seacago. Tá siadsan féin níos mó go deireanach. Ach, níl go maith na buachaillí gormaí leosan againn.
Nílim ábalta a insint sibh faoi cluiche corr as Gaeilge go iomlán.
Cheangail comhlann idir dhá foireann go luath. Bhuail Seoff Ceannt péir na rith sa bhaile. Ansin, ar feadh ar barr na naoú rionnt, tháinig Takashi Saito a caitheamh an peile. Is é teilgeoir is mó, go hiondúil. Críochnaíonn sé cluiche go minic. Thug Saito bua i gcónaí beagnach.
Níor thug sé seo. Níor rug ar an Cleachaí na peile. Chuir imreoir rith eile. Ní dhearna Saito obair go maith. Gheobhaidh an foireann dhúchais seans fós. Ar dheireadh na roinnt déanach, líon na Cleachai gach boinn.
Bhí dhá béim anois. Agus bhí dhá buille ansin. Bhí fear cliste le slat. D'fhan brúim go hiomníoch. Dhúisigh callán gach duine. Fhás sé beágan ar bhéagan. Is é Maiti Ceambh. Dhéanfadh sé dearmad go dona. D'iarr sé a buaileadh an peile, ar ndóigh. Chaith an Coileán sé le cleasaíocht. Bhí sé go raibh a meallaidh a bhaint as Ceambh.
Luasc Ceambh. Bhí teilgean in aice leis an guailleálaim aige, ochone. Mheasaim go raibh caitheamh taghtha i ngar slinnean aigesan. Thuigeamar iomrall breithúnais aige. Bhrís sé slat aige. Chaill Na Cleasaí an cogadh aríst. Diaidh ar ndiaidh, d'imigh muid go brónach.
The Dodgers lost again.
Niall and I went to Dodger Stadium last night. We saw the team as usual. The Los Angeles Dodgers played [a game] against the Chicago Cubs. They themselves are very good lately. But, our boys in blue are not well with themselves.
I'm not able to tell you all about baseball wholly in Irish. It does not have enough words there. Still, I will write about the events of that game a little. The Chicago team started with power. They made four runs before the Dodgers got one hit in the fifth portion [=inning]. The Blue Crew rose up 'together growing gradually'.
The contest was soon tied between (the) two teams. Jeff Kent hit a pair of home runs. There, during the top of the ninth section [=inning], Takashi Saito came to throw the ball. He's [the] best pitcher, usually. He often closes the game. He brings a win almost always.
He did not get this. A Dodger did not catch the ball. A player got another run. Saito did not make good work. The native (=home) team will get another chance, still. At the bottom of the last section [=inning], the Dodgers filled 'all bases'.
There were two blows (=outs) now. And there were two strikes there. It was a smart man with a bat. The crowd waited anxiously. The noise woke up everyone. It grew steadily. He is Matt Kemp. He would make a bad mistake. He wanted to hit the ball, of course. The Cub threw it with trickery. He was 'softening up what he took out of' [=fooling] Kemp.
Kemp swung. The pitch was near his shoulder. I estimated the throw crossed over his own shoulder-blade. We understood the error in his judgment. He broke his bat. The Dodgers lost the battle. Little by little, sadly, we left.
Photo/ Griangraf: Is é Maitiu Ceambh seo, ina cúigíú cuid. Rug sé é. This is Matt Kemp, in the fifth 'inning'. He caught it.
