"Fear mór smaionte"

Tá mé ag scríobh go leor faoi deireanach--as Béarla. Chuir mé an h-aiste mhór agam anois go iris na Leann Ceilteach na h-Ungair. Tá sí is fada inti!

Scríobh mé is mo mar go raibh ag iarrtha duibheagán níos mo na h-aineolais agamsa. Tá mé ag lorg ceisteannái ní raibh siad ag fiafraithe níos luath. B'fhéidir, gheobhaidh mé ábhar nua ag foilsiú.

Ar scor ar bith, tuigim ní bheidh seo. Rinne mé an h-aiste eile faoi Ghleann Cholm Cille sa mhí seo caite. Dhiúltaigh an eagarthoir sin na hAlban m'iarracht go caoin ach go daingean.

Bhí bron orm, ar ndóigh. Mar sin féin, iarraim aríst. Foghlaim faoi eolas eagsula. Smaointim faoi idéannaí difríulaí. Déannaim mise féin "fear mór smaionte" beagán ar bheaghán!

Tá sé deacair ag scríobh leis grásta ann. Níl sé easca ag fáil lucht éisteach faoi habháir léinn idir lucht scólarthaí fós. Tá fear léinn, ach caithim ag obair i m'aonar gach lá. "Faigheann seancheann féin chiall."

"A man of ideas"

I have been writing a lot lately-- in English. I sent a large essay of mine now to a journal of Celtic Studies in Hungary. It's very long!

I wrote so much because I was seeking greater depth of analysis. I am searching questions that have not been asked earlier. Perhaps, I will get new material published.

However, I understand this may not be. I made another essay about Glencolmcille this past month. That editor in Scotland gently but firmly turned down my attempt.

Sadness was on me, of course. All the same, I try again. I learn about various knowledge. I ponder over different ideas. I make myself "a great man of ideas" little by little.

It's difficult to write with grace. It's not easy to find an audience regarding learned subjects among a studious crowd, also. I'm a scholarly man, but I must be working on my own every day. "It is never too late to learn."

One day we both wrote independently and simultaneously about eucalyptus and another time about spontaneous divination and today, it is ideas. You are the most graceful writer there is. In a world full of rejection, your acceptance of me is the great blessing of my life. You are a great man of ideas now and the heart of my heart for eternity.
