Cáisc na nGiúdach 5769

Cheiliúran muid ár Cáisc on Dé Déardaoin seo caite. Fhreastíodh muid ocht agus déag duine go hiomlán. Mar sin, bhí teach lán anseo!

Chócaráil Léna bia níos mo, ar ndóigh. Is iondúil go déanamh seo uirthi. Tá grá mhór aicisean féin a rinne miasaí blásta an uair sin-- i gcónaí!

Go nádúrtha, thug duine eile lóntaí eile. Tháinig duine leis fion agus sú na fhíonchaor. Líon muid gloiní fíona go leor go h-ólta.

D'inis scéal anallód Cháisc aríst. Phlé muid faoi an fírinne nó fállasach air. Ach, d'fhoghlaim faoi ag baint le hábhar dó againnsa féin an óiche sin fós.

Bhí cuimhne duine eile orainn freisin. Ní raibh siad ábalta a dul go mbord Cháis. D'ith siad faoi ghlas, nó ar fud ar a seanbhaile. Tuig na Giúdachaí agus na pobal Éireannach faoi bheith ar deoraíocht.

Passover 5769.

We celebrated our Jewish Passover on this past Wednesday. Eighteen people attended in total. Therefore, it was a crowded house here!

Layne cooked most of the meal, of course. It's customary to do this for her. She has a great love herself to make tasty dishes at that time-- as always!

Naturally, other folks brought other provisions. People came with wine and the juice of grapes. We filled wineglasses galore for ones to be drinking.

We told the age-old story of Passover again. We debated about the truth or fallacy of it. But, we learned about the relevance of it for ourselves that night also.

Other people came to mind for us too. They were not able to go to a Passover table. They ate behind bars ["under key"=locked up], or far from their old home. The Jews and the Irish people understand about being in exile.
